About Jani Designs

It all began when I was a little girl as I watched my mother stringing each interchangeable bead securely to a straight wire with the aid of hand tools. As she poured her love into each fashionable custom piece, it soon became a one of a kind collection. Using Swarovski crystals, Chinese, German, and Czech glass in various colors and shapes, she added her finishing touches by adorning each piece with rhinestones, round metal beads, rondelles and semi-precious stones. This memory made an indelible impression on me, as I came to understand the significance of the effort and love that she put into these timeless creations.

When my mother passed away, she left an abundance of ‘vintage beads’ that she accumulated from friends and family who traveled to different parts of the world and were kind enough to bring them back for her. I had no idea what the value of these beads was until I had them appraised and learned that many of them are over sixty years old and quite rare. As I follow in her footsteps, and realize my own love for creating beauty in jewelry design, I thank her for leaving me these precious gems. As a tribute to my mom, I am able to create new unique designs with love and enthusiasm as she did in the 1950’s.

The necklaces are 33 inches long and, with no noticeable closures, can be turned in various ways creating many distinctive looks. I've also designed a shorter version of the necklace in a 13 inch, 15 inch or 16 1/4 inch to be worn separately or together. These lengths allow me to combine these beads by using a hand-knotted technique making these creations very different than other designs. The spacers used are sterling, gold plated or other metals, reflecting a stylish assortment with a magnificent finished look. There are no two necklaces that are the same, and each necklace has a charm of its own because of the uniqueness of each design.

These beads are not available in bulk purchase; they are only sold in my custom designed finished pieces.

My necklaces are currently featured at Elephant's Trunk in Mt. Kisco, NY, which, for the fourth consecutive year, was voted the "Best Store in Westchester to Find Evening Clothes" by the staff of Westchester Magazine.

I know this is the true legacy my mother left for me and whoever wears these designs will truly be inspired by the beauty in each piece.
